When you last heard from the team behind the Hot Blogger Calendar the months of January-May were chosen…well, with a few exceptions we are sticking to the same bloggers–one being myself–for the months prior to June.

As of today, Sunday August 1st we are accepting nominations for JUNE-DECEMBER! Yes, we are going to knock out the rest of the year asap so that we can get this calendar out and in your hands!

Nominations will be open until next Sunday August 8th. Voting will begin Monday August 9th and the male and female bloggers with the most votes will win the last coveted spots!

Since funds are tight, we will find photographers local to each winner and have the photos sent to HBC so that we can put the calendar together as seamlessly as possible and then get it printed and out for the masses.

100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross as originally intended.

For January and February of 2011, the top 2 Female and the top 2 Male vote-getters will represent the months of January and February in the respective Female and Male Hot Blogger Calendars (yes, we’re playing a little game of catch-up here and yes, we are taking care of two months with one voting period). Now, if you’re wondering what qualifies a blogger as “hot,” here’s the deal: Obviously there is a physical element to deciding if someone is hot – or not. But we’re talking about writers here – people using their brains, their wit, their intelligence, their savviness – to make you want go back to their blogs again and again. That, in and of itself, is pretty hot. Or think about the reason that the month of January was hot for a particular blogger – a book deal, a magazine spread, a new gig – and nominate the blogger for that. Use your imagination. ‘Cause you’re good like that.

Or yes, the blogger you have in mind could just be totally, unabashedly, freakishly hot. And in that case, please do share!)

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Valentine’s Day falls in his month? Nah, he’s just a good guy.

You see, he just proposed to one of the Hot Blogger Calendar nominees, Dirty Pirate Hooker. They live in different states, but they’ll be spending New Years Eve together in Denver, and he wants to make it really, really special for her.

They’re both single parents who work really hard. And he worked really hard for me, too – and you – doing two tours of duty in Iraq with the Marines.

We recently told our bloggers that from now until January 1st, they will be getting $4 from the sale of each calendar they sell through their site. So he will be putting that $4/sale toward making New Years Eve as romantical (as Lo from The Hills would say) as possible.

He has shared with me some of the plans he has, which I can’t share here because, you know, his fiance may be reading this and he wants to keep those plans a surprise. But believe me, reading what he wants to do for his wife-to-be brought tears to my eyes.

Wow – as Jane said, the response to the Hot Blogger Calendar has been AMAZING!  We’ve had nearly 100,000 hits since Monday! We’ve had visitors from all over the globe, from the huge influx of us in the US to Canada, the UK and as far as Bangladesh!

• 70% of you are Windows/PC users
• 60% of you are using Firefox
• 523 nominations have been cast!! (Jane’s note: this was as of Friday afternoon, and since then we’ve had a huge surge)

To be behind the scenes on such an amazing example of social networking is just thrilling for me.  I was thrilled when Jane & Sarah asked me to design the site, and now to see the idea really hit home with so many of you just rocks!
