The Hot Blogger Calendar shoot has wrapped. It was, in a word, amazing.

11 of the 24 bloggers were able to make it to NYC from all over the country… California. Florida. Massachusetts. Louisiana. South Carolina. Maryland. And, of course, New York.

And at this point, I think a big thank you is in order to the people who voted these bloggers into the calendar. What an incredibly phenomenal group of people. They are, quite frankly, teh awesomeness.

Between the actual shoot and the get-to-know-each-other dinner the night before, we had the best time.

Our photographers, Bill Wadman and Meg Wachter, were so wonderful. They put everyone at ease, and really took the time to capture each blogger’s personality in the photos. No easy feat when there are 11 subjects to shoot in a 9 hour period (including a lunch break!).

And our make-up artist Jillian Villafane made sure everyone was camera-ready and looking fierce.

The day before the voting ended, we stopped showing the voting tallies because we wanted there to be an element of surprise when we announced the winners.

I debated listing the final results because, well… some people (me included!) received very few votes and it just reminded me of middle school and being the last to be picked for dodge ball in Phys. Ed. and middle school is humiliating enough, you know?* Then I had to, like, go watch a few episodes of My So Called Life and listen to some Nirvana and I am happy to report that all is right with the world again.

(*Well, that and I honestly didn’t think people would care all that much, but what do I know?)

There’s the guest list. The budget. The travel arrangements. The coordination of every last person involved in the event. Wacky second cousin Jimmy (I told him he could come).

Now, I have no doubt we can pull this thing off beautifully. Almost 4 years ago I threw together a big, pull-out-all-the-stops fabulous wedding (if I do say so myself) – with 175 guests – in only 5 months. (No, not a shotgun wedding.)

And just like my wedding 4 years ago, this Big Fat Hot Blogger Calendar Wedding will be filled with fun people and crazy stories.

Maybe we’ll even bring a priest in for good measure?

(Not that anyone is waiting for these to be posted or anything, right?)

We have to hand it to the nominees… y’all really pulled out all the stops, and it has been amazing to see the creativity out there.

When we started putting this together, we had no idea what it would become. So we truly thank you all for making it as crazy out of hand fun and successful as it has been!

We’ve promised not to tell who… but we’ve had lots of bloggers nominating themselves. And that’s cool because if you don’t love yourself, who’s gonna love ya baby?

And of course there are nominations coming in from all of y’all’s rabid fans. Wow, people LOVE their favorite bloggers. (It’s a little scary.)

But the best part is that you all seem to be as excited about this whole thing as we are. Between all of the blog posts about the calendar (so many that I have to continue this sentence just to fit them all in – phew!), the Hot Blogger Calendar buttons popping up, the tweets about the contest, etc., we have all collectively created some incredible buzz. Go us (and thank you!).

A few people have asked if there is really going to be a calendar. The answer is YES! With a real shoot party – photographers, make-up artists, stylists, DJ and everything. (Don’t worry, if you absolutely can’t make the shoot in New York City, we’ll have a plan for you to get your hot photo to us).

A lot of people have asked how they can help. We’ll definitely need volunteers for the shoot party, as well as donations for goody bags.

We’d also LOVE sponsors for flights, hotels, food, drinks, car service, clothes, etc.

If you’d like to be a sponsor or advertise here (and why wouldn’t you?), email Jane or Sarah. We’ll let you know what’s up.

Remember, we’re taking nominations up until August 25th, at which time we’ll narrow down the field based on the number of nominations for each blogger. And then the voting begins!

If Playboy.com hadn’t made a list of the hottest bloggers (all female – it is Playboy) – blogger Jane Porricelli of MomGenerations.com never would have found her Mission. A believer in equal opportunity, she knew that in the interest of women and gay men promoting gender equality, she just had to recognize the men who heat up the web, too.

So she enlisted the help of her Twitter followers one night, blogged about her impromptu Hottest Male Blogger contest – and the response was major. The scent of fresh male blogger meat quickly made its way ’round the web and Jane was deluged with emails, tweets and press from Gawker and mediabistro.

The Hottest Male Blogger contest was the Cinderella Story of the web, bringing hot male bloggers into the spotlight. Mission accomplished.

But that’s not where our story ends. Oh no. Even before the announcement of the first-ever Hot Male Blogger Contest winner (Peter Shankman), there was unrest in the blogosphere.

People complained I’m the hottest blogger and I was totally overlooked! and No fair! I didn’t have a chance to vote for my favorite blogger! and See a sexy Russian girl get – (oh wait, that one went into spam) and Hey, where are the gay bloggers? Bloggers of color? At the same time, even more were crying, We want more! We want more! And just as Jane was shaking her fist at the gods, crying, “How? How do I give everyone what they want?” she was joined by Sarah Morgan, blogger, Twitterer, social media dilettante and Hot Blogger appreciator.

And when the two of them put their minds together, the Hot Blogger Calendar was born.

Jane and Sarah decided to create two calendars: Hot Male Bloggers and Hot Female Bloggers (again: gender equality). And here’s where you come in. Yes, you are a part of this story, too. It’s your chance – nay, your duty – to nominate the bloggers who will take part in our photo shoot and appear in the 2009 Hot Blogger Calendars. (And then you will buy these calendars come November, m’kay?)

You nominate your Hot Blogger, male or female. Nominations will be accepted for just one week, from August 18-25. You can vote for yourself (we won’t tell!) or for any other blogger who makes you muy caliente!

But you must spread the word, because obviously, the more people who vote for you your nominee, the better chance that you your nominee will be a finalist. Finalists will be announced August 25, and voting from August 25-September 1 will determine the Hot Bloggers who will grace your calendar pages throughout 2009.
